Do you really enjoy the Olympic Lifts? Here is a Letter from Melissa and Matt York, the Owners of 646 Olympic Weightlifting Club and CrossFit 646 in Tucson, Arizona, with details about their Olympic weightlifting backgrounds and their program.

Hello,

Our names are Matt and Melissa York and we are the co-owners of 646 Weightlifting Club (a new facility in Northwest Tucson), and if you are someone who enjoys Olympic weightlifting, we would like you to try a training session with us for free.  Here is a little bit about our weightlifting background.  Melissa has been competing in Olympic weightlifting for 6 years now.  She qualified for the USA Weightlifting National Championships in 2009 and has competed in every National Championship since then.  She has finished as high as fifth and has a lifetime best competition total of 164kg (360 lbs) at a bodyweight of 58kg (127lbs).  In 2011, Melissa started the Breakaway Weightlifting Club in Tyson’s Corner Virginia, where she coached alongside Jeff Teach (former Resident athlete at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs).  Matt has been a competitor in both powerlifting and Olympic weightlifting since 2008.  Matt has also been fortunate enough to coach his wife Melissa at every one of her National Championship appearances as well as other youth and senior level lifters. In addition to coaching Melissa, Matt was a strength and conditioning coach for 8 years at both the collegiate and high school level.  Matt has coached weightlifters from school aged to adult in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, and Arizona.  Both Melissa and Matt are USA Weightlifting Certified Club Coaches, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists and CrossFit Level 2 Trainers.

Matt and Melissa both love training, programming and teaching the Olympic lifts and hope to spread their enjoyment of the sport with anyone who has a genuine desire to improve their lifts.  Together, Melissa and Matt want to help you train for your first meet, improve your total or just be a friend while you train Olympic style.   We offer 1 on 1 and small group Olympic Weightlifting Training, as well as options for open gym for qualified and trustworthy lifters.  We also offer individualized Olympic weightlifting programming to each athlete and will help you determine which meets to compete in and coach you through those meets.

Give us a call or click the “Try us for FREE” button at the top of the page to set up a free assessment and consultation.

We hope to hear from you soon.  Your training is important to us.

Stay strong and happy,

Matt and Melissa
