SEPTEMBER ’15 ATHLETE OF THE MONTH

Nicole Varner

Nicole started training with CrossFit 646 in its infant stage in the church, which is fitting because she will soon have an infant of her own!  Nicol2015-04-20 22.56.59e brings a positive attitude to CrossFit class everyday.  Even though she is very pregnant at the moment, she still works extremely hard, modifies the exercises on her own and says she will continue to do so right up to the big day.  I can picture Nicole freaking the nurses out by hitting Fran while she’s waiting to deliver!  The thing I love about Nicole is her positive attitude.  She’s fun to have in class because of her upbeat and friendly yet competitive demeanor towards each WOD.  Nicole is also exceptional at making intelligent decisions about exercise scaling (especially since she’s been working out for two) and choosing weights for her strength movements.  She regularly posts on Beyond The Whiteboard as well.  If you’re ever doing a Partner Workout, Nicole makes an awesome partner.  She knows how workouts should flow, counts her reps accurately, encourages in a positive and friendly manner, and is just fun to be around!  To me, being a great partner is not easy, and is also one of the most important things we can do in a CrossFit gym.  Many people are drawn to CrossFit because of the community and the camaraderie, and Nicole brings that piece to our gym.  Thanks Nicole, for being a member of 646 and for sweating for two!
